AWWA Source Water Protection Award
The Spokane Aquifer Joint Board has submitted a report to the American Water Works Association (AWWA) detailing our exemplary aquifer protection program. Recepients of this national award will be notified in late March and the awards will be presented at the AWWA Annual Convention June 8-11, 2014 in Boston.
The twenty page report summarizes the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board’s Wellhead Protection Program and the innovations which have been developed since 1995, designed to protect our “sole source” of drinking water, the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer.
