1) Water / Irrigation District Manager’s Tour of Rathdrum Cogentrix Plant – scheduled for Thursday, November 15th @10:00 a.m. and Friday, November 16th @ 1:30 p.m.. Five of twenty-two purveyors have responded thus far. Please contact Julia with the number of people from your District who wish to attend, and on which day.
2) Water Weeks Tour September 28 & 29 – numerous displays and guided tours of the Upriver Dam powerhouses and the hand-dug city well netted a total of 117 visitors.
3) Watershed Resource Inventory Analysis WRIA – slight correction to track the work and reports of the consultant assessing the ‘water budget’ for two WRIA areas, visit: https://spokanewatershed.golder.com/Site/Home.asp
4) Friends of the Aquifer – joining with consortium of labor organizations, including IBEW Local 73, in formal protest of two additional proposed plants, Kootenai Generation LLC, for 15.6 cfs/year-round, up to 10 million gallons/day; and North Idaho Power LLC, 10.87 cfs/year-round; permit applications filed with Idaho Department of Water Resources.
5) Safe Water Coalition of Washington State – tracking City Council candidates who are opposed or in favor of fluoridation; General Election Nov. 6th Dist 1 Robert Appel, opposed, Dist 2 (South Hill) both in favor, Dist 3, Cherie Rogers opposed, Jeff Colliton uncertain.
6) Another Woodland Terrace neighbor concerned about the proposed asphalt plat near 8th & Carnahan sent via email.
7) Emergency Planning – Questionnaire to be prepared for Districts’ response.
8) Business Technology Expo and Spokane Showcase – Proactive Business committee has booth for 2 days of business outreach, October 16 & 17. Majority of visitor questions about Cogentrix Power Plant and comments about the Burlington Northern Refueling facility.
9) Spokane This Week – Ty Wick and Susan McGeorge appeared on KSPS Channel 7 to discuss the aquifer on Friday, October 19th, as part of the Education committee’s ongoing awareness campaign.
