- ProActive Business –BMP Guide distributed for review, list of 2004 IGC participants received, letter+mailing labels for thank you letter next step
- Potential Contaminant Source Inventory Update –modeling of 3 new purveyor wells completed by CH2MHill; capture zones and the businesses within the capture zones incorporated into GIS layer, with PCSI maps for 2004 to be generated following finalization of 2004 list. Distribution of 2004 PCSI Candidate List for purveyor review and return underway.
- Household Contaminant Disposal –April Household Hazardous Materials Fire Station turn-ins set for the following:
- Saturday, April 2, Station 1, 10319 E. Sprague, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Saturday, April 9, Station 2, Millwood, 9111 E. Frederick, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Saturday, April 16, NO Station Turn-in this day; instead, Spring Greening Household Hazardous Waste Pick-up for seniors and physically challenged, call 532-7645 to arrange for free-of-charge pickup. Most participants within City of Spokane limits.
- Saturday, April 23, Station 3, Liberty Lake, 2218 N. Harvard, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Saturday, April 30, Station 4, Otis Orchards, 22406 E. Wellesley, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Look for the Banner posted at the Fire Station the week before the turn-in Saturday, and look for Aqua Duck at the stations from 11-1 p.m. on 4/2, 4/9 and 4/30; reprinting of Household Haz Chem. brochure for broad distribution through water bills and at purveyor offices – cost sharing with SRSWS.
- Education & Awareness – continuing distribution of Atlases and Aqua Duck comic books; KSPS planning student poster contest and two animated spots using the comic book images; presentation to Gardeners of Spokane 3/17; looking for volunteers to help at Earth Day Booth, Sat April 23, anytime between 11 and 3. Please call Julia 363-1066 asap.
- Website – total website sessions for February 2005 = possibly 1477 – statistics software malfunctioning on webserver
- Emergency Planning – attended Local Emergency Planning Committee 3/10; scheduled to give Aquifer presentation on 5/12; questions arose about tracking of stationary and transient hazardous materials; discussed existing and possible regional Potential Contaminant Source Inventory
- PROGRAM LEADER REPORT – Julia McHugh
GUEST Speakers – Mr. John VanSant, Emergency Response Coordinator, and Mr. Bill Edstrom, Epidemiology Bio-terrorism expert, Spokane Regional Health District, to discuss emergency response structure for the Health District and the water purveyor connection.
1) ID/WA Aquifer study – computer transient flow modeling efforts underway, specific news to be released by the Technical Committee; small group talks available by TAC member
2) Aquifer Atlas reprinting –Atlas distribution to contributors complete, additional copies available on request
3) Friends of the Aquifer – sponsorship of Rachael Paschal Osborne 3/15 talk at Gonzaga U.
4) Grant Sources for Conservation – EPA source not viable, more checking to be done
5) April 28, 2005 SAJB Meeting Guest Speaker – Rob Corcoran, Chairman, Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee, to discuss topics related to the Palouse Basin aquifer characterization, bi-state agency and community cooperation, and co-management issues and approaches.
