5.  WELLHEAD PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

  • Committee Reports
    • ProActive Business preparing thank you/award letters+ window decal to participating businesses after checking for infractions
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory – expect delivery of maps and database for each District by end of month; will begin draft of bi-annual letter to businesses over Aquifer
    • Household Contaminant Disposal – letter+magnet+disposal guide sent March 12th; volunteers + Solid Waste notified
    • Education & Awareness – pending interview for Aqua Duck character; schedule candidates for interview for SAJB Survey; continue polling schools for desire to have Children’s Theatre; truck decals distributed to meeting attendees

1) Road sign request sent to Department of Transportation 3/4/02

2) Watershed Resource Inventory Analysis WRIA – review of stakeholder comments to draft data compilation and assessment report

3) Friends of the Aquifer –  Kootenai County Commissioners oppose Rathdrum Prairie power plants

4) Emergency Response Agencies – request from SAJB resulting in inclusion on call-down lists:  Ecology local list for spill response; County Emergency Services call-down list

5) Safe Water Coalition of Washington State – update on House Bill 2703 to “study the costs and benefits of fluoride in public water supplies”, did not get out of House Rules Committee, dead for Y2002. Legislative hotline is 800-562-6000.  Will know after April 16th if added to Combined Communications Center call-down list

6) Dept. of Ecology – Dissolved Oxygen Model for Spokane River and Long Lake – development of water quality computer model to be used to predict water quality changes in response to changing river flow, types, quantity and locations of wastewater discharges.  Will be used to establish TMDL of pollutants that can be discharged to the river; public comment period through end of March.  7) Dept. of Ecology – Washington State Conference “Achieving Cleaner Water by Reducing Nonpoint Pollution” April 9-11 Doubletree Hotel Spokane – booth setup –  ANY VOLUNTEERS?
