- Program Leader Report – Julia McHugh
1) Water Weeks – Opening event location is the Spokane Interstate Fair, on Friday, September 7th, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.,still need volunteers for staffing booth, 6-8pm. Booth breakdown @ dusk. Change in total cost to SAJB: Buttons rather than t-shirts will be obtained and each participating agency adding ~$300 to cover media costs. SAJB / WQMP Aquifer Tour will be Friday & Saturday, Sept 28 & 29th @ Upriver Dam – will also need volunteers.
2) Tour the AVISTA-Cogentrix Energy Plant in Rathdrum- call in to Paul Anderson 8/13/01
3) Emergency Planning and Communications – discussed at recent AWWA Subchapter meeting; regional Disaster Committee meets monthly, Sept. – June, Water Purveyors welcome to attend. Progress reviewing County Comprehensive Emergency Plan, in order to suggest changes to include SAJB and Water Purveyor notification at times of emergency. Any SAJB members want to attend monthly Emergency Planning meetings starting in September?
4) Dept. of Ecology Water Use Measurement draft rule – comment period Aug 15 – Sept. 24. To register for email on water resource issues, go to: www.ecy.wa.gov/maillist.html
5) Friends of the Aquifer – will not appeal STB ruling which denied Friends’ request for an EIS on Rathdrum refueling facility. The Lands Council has received an EPA grant for ‘groundwater’ education.
6) Still need District commercial account Names + Addresses for Ecology Technical Visit Program
7) Still need old or recent District photos
